Brandeis University Student Move-In Guide
Moving to Brandeis University in Waltham? Plan Fall 2026 arrival, first-year residence halls, Twin XL bedding, campus parking, off-campus housing, Waltham transportation and apartment setup.
Starting at Brandeis
Move-in happens before one of the earliest fall starts in the Boston area
Brandeis University is located at 415 South Street in Waltham, Massachusetts. Fall 2026 classes begin Wednesday, August 26, so new students arrive several days before many Boston-area colleges begin their fall terms.
Families should pay close attention to the student’s assigned arrival group because international students, athletes, pre-orientation participants and general incoming undergraduates may have different move-in dates.

First-year housing
Most first-year students live in traditional residence halls
Fall-entry first-year students are assigned primarily to Massell, North or East Quad. These communities use traditional corridor-style residence-hall layouts with a mix of single, double and triple rooms.
First-year students entering in the fall generally live on campus for the full academic year unless they receive an approved housing exemption or commuter status.
Residence communities
Where Brandeis students live
Massell Quad
Includes Shapiro, Deroy, Renfield and Usen halls around a central quadrangle and is a major first-year residential area.
North Quad
Includes Scheffres, Gordon, Cable and Reitman and is another major first-year residential community.
East Quad
Houses a mix of first-year, midyear, transfer and returning students in traditional residence-hall rooms.
Skyline and Village
Upper-level students may live in Skyline, Village and other traditional or suite-style housing depending on class year and assignment.
Rosenthal
Offers suite-style housing with groups of single and double rooms.
Charles River and Foster
Upper-class housing includes apartment-style options such as Charles River Apartments and the Foster student living area.
Housing guarantee
Brandeis provides a multi-semester housing guarantee for many students
Brandeis states that students are generally guaranteed four consecutive semesters of on-campus housing, with a different guarantee structure for students entering as midyears.
Transfer housing is not guaranteed and is offered depending on availability, with priority considerations for some international and out-of-state students.

For a dorm television, a freestanding tabletop or floor stand is a safer option unless Community Living provides written approval for another installation method.
Parking
Do not assume every resident student can keep a car on campus
Resident parking is restricted
Current Brandeis parking rules generally limit standard resident student permits to seniors, while juniors may appeal in certain circumstances.
Commuter permits are broader
Commuter students are eligible to apply for parking permits in designated commuter lots. All vehicles parked on campus require proper registration and a valid permit.
