Miami Moving & Home-Sale Prep Guide
Before you book a Miami move, confirm where the truck can unload and how long the crew will have access. If you’re moving into a condo, ask whether the loading dock and service elevator need separate reservations. If you’re selling, work backward from listing photos and the final walkthrough to schedule furniture removal, repairs, and cleaning.
What to plan for your Miami move or sale
Moving into a Miami condo
Ask management which entrance the truck should use, what clearance the loading area has, and how the crew checks in. Confirm the full elevator reservation and ask whether the mover needs to submit a certificate of insurance in advance. Share the building’s instructions before you commit to a truck size or arrival window.
Selling a Miami home or condo
Ask your agent what should stay for photos and what needs to be out before the walkthrough. Check balconies, storage lockers, and assigned storage areas along with the main rooms. If a donation or removal crew needs building access, check whether it needs its own appointment.
Furniture delivery and move-in setup
Measure from the approved loading area to the unit. Include the service elevator door and cabin, hallway turns, and the unit entry. Ask whether the furniture will arrive boxed or assembled. Confirm when it will be on site before booking assembly, window treatments, or shelving.
TV mounting and DIY
Set the main seating first, then take a wide photo showing the intended TV wall and outlets. Share the TV and bracket model numbers with the installer. Ask management about any restrictions on drilling or cable routing, and have the wall checked before drilling if its construction is unclear.
Who collects bulky items at your Miami address?
For a City of Miami address, use the city’s address lookup to check the bulky-trash schedule. If Miami-Dade County provides your waste service, check the county’s eligibility and request instructions before placing items at the curb. If your condo uses private collection, ask management where furniture or mattresses should go and when they can be removed. Confirm the collection date against your key-return or walkthrough date.
Example — Your Brickell condo has one elevator slot
Suppose your condo offers a Thursday morning elevator slot and the sofa delivery company can only promise arrival sometime Thursday. Ask whether it can commit to the building’s window. If it can’t, check what other slots management can offer before confirming delivery. If an old sofa also needs to go, ask who will carry it out and whether that crew needs a separate reservation.
